Komodo Dragons

The Komodo Dragon is a real-life dragon. Although they're not fire-breathers like our favorite mythical creatures, they have their own amazing defensive and offensive abilities. Here are a few facts about them.

Komodo Dragons are the biggest lizards on earth. They usually weigh up to 150 pounds,     although captive specimens often weigh more. The largest specimen weighed at least 370 pounds! (That is one danged big lizard!)

Komodo Dragons have septic pathogens in their saliva (in other words, the bacteria in a Komodo Dragon's mouth is pretty darned deadly). However, while these pathogens can be found in the mouths of wild Komodo Dragons, they disappear from the mouths of captive Komodos due to a cleaner diet and the use of antibiotics. (Also, I bet most of you didn't know that the same bacteria in their mouths is also found in their scales. In other words, a single blow to the skin by a Komodo dragon's powerful tail can also be fatal.)

Spyro's Breath Attacks

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon is very different from the The Eternal Night and A New Beginning. First of all, you get to play as either Spyro or Cynder. You can switch between them in single-player mode throughout the game, too!  A dragon's teeth and claws can be effective weapons in their own rights, but what makes a dragon such a powerful warrior is their ability to harness the elements into lethal breath attacks. Spyro and Cynder also have their own unique sets of elemental breath attacks.

In  A New Beginning, the dragon Guardians bestowed upon Spyro control over the elements of fire, electricity, ice, and earth. Each of these elements has its own primary and secondary attacks.

Primary Attacks
Dragon Fire: Allows you to breathe Dragon Fire that burns your target.
Ice Spikes: Shoots Ice Spikes that damage your target.
Earth Boulder: Transforms Spyro into a boulder when the primary attack button is held down.
Lightning Bolt: Unleashes a Lightning Bolt when the primary attack button is held down.

Secondary Attacks
Comet Dash: Surrounds Spyro in flames as he charges into his enemies
Snow Storm: Creates a Snow Storm that damages surrounding enemies
Earth Missile: Launches an Earth Missile at enemies in front of Spyro
Electric Sphere: Emits an Electric Sphere that stuns and damages surrounding enemies

Dragon Poem

Hello, followers. I recently wrote a poem about dragons and how humans perceive them. Check it out!
It's called "Creatures of Legend".

"Creatures of Legend"

Dragons have been told of in tales for years
As creatures of darkness, creatures of fears
For centuries, we've portrayed them as dark and evil
But what is actually true of these creatures medieval?

Dragons are creatures of mystery and wonder
Creatures that capture our attention like thunder.
In a sense, dragons are like wolves, just misunderstood
So it's possible that they are actually creatures of good.

Some dragons are more aggressive than others,
But they may also be social and live with their sisters or brothers.
But even though dragons' personalities vary
One thing's for certain: they're truly shy and wary

Should we keep perceiving dragons as creatures of evil
Or should we end this dreadful assumption primeval?
If dragons are anything like wildlife today, they're just trying to survive
So banish our former way of thinking and let good assumptions of dragons thrive.

Pet Dragons

Check this out, everyone! Looks like Hiccup and his friends from How To Train Your Dragon aren't the only ones with dragons as pets. Did you know there is a type of lizard you can keep as a pet called the Bearded Dragon? They're pretty cool pets, if you ask me. Here's a few neat  facts about them:

Bearded Dragon lizards are native to Australia. They live in rocky and arid regions of the country and are adept climbers. Dragons have large, triangular heads and flat bodies with pointed ridges along the sides. They are omnivorous, eating both insects and plants.

Bearded Dragons make great pet lizards. They don't get too large, they eat a wide variety of foods, are active during the day, and are gentle animals. Bearded Dragons are captive-bred, have limited care requirements, readily available, and inexpensive. They can be a great addition to your family.
